Oppo on 12th July launched the Reno 12 Pro 5G and Reno 12 5G in India. The specifications of these two flagship models are powered by MediaTek Dimensity 7300-Energy chipsets and they come with AMOLED displays up to a refresh rate of 120Hz. Running ColorOS 14.1 based on Android 12, the device features triple rear camera setups spearheaded by a Sony LYT6000 lens with a resolution of up to 50MP.
Earlier in China the Reno 12 series was unveiled as well, and its variant for international markets also features this Dimensity 7300-Energy SoC. Meanwhile, in China the Reno 12 is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 8250 Star Speed Edition chipset and its Pro version makes do with a MediaTek Dimensity 9200+ Star Speed Edition SoC.
The All New Oppo Reno 12 5G Series
The Oppo Reno 12 Pro 5G is priced at ₹36,999 for the 12GB RAM + 256GB storage variant and ₹40,999 for the 12GB RAM + 512GB storage model, available in Space Brown and Sunset Gold, starting from July 18. The Oppo Reno 12 5G costs ₹32,999 for the 8GB RAM + 256GB storage version and will be available from July 25 in Astro Silver, Matte Brown, and Sunset Peach colors. Both models will be sold through Flipkart and the Oppo India website.
Oppo Reno 12 Pro 5G and Oppo Reno 12 5G have dual-SIM (Nano) slots with Android 14-based ColorOS 14.1, offering two years of OS upgrades as well alongside security updates for four more times. It comes in a 6.7-inch full-HD+ (1,080×2,412 pixels) quality screen that has up to 120Hz refresh rate. They also come with support for HDR10+ and can get as bright as 1200 nits in direct sunlight. The Reno 12 Pro comes with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on top of the display, while you get Corning’s Gorilla Glass 7i protection on the regular Reno 12.
Both phones pack an octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 7300-Energy with LPDDR4X RAM up to 12GB and 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage which may be expanded up to 1TB via a microSD card. The Oppo Reno 12 series will have a triple rear camera setup The Pro variant adds a 50MP OIS-stabilised Sony LYT600 sensor, an 8MP ultrawide with the Sony IMX355 label, and a 50MP 2x optical zoom telephoto Samsung S5KJN5 lens. Its selfie shooter is also 50-megapixel, with a Samsung S5KJN5 sensor. The Reno 12 5G also has a 50-megapixel Sony LYT600 primary sensor with OIS, an 8-megapixel Sony IMX355 sensor, and a 2-megapixel macro sensor, with a 32-megapixel front camera.
On the other hand, both models have active AI modes as well such as; AI Summary, AI Record summary, and many more like this. Speaking of connectivity, the phone supports 5G and Bluetooth v5.4 along with IR Blaster as well as Wi-Fi 6. They too come with an on-screen fingerprint scanner, and face unlock, complete in IP65-rated build.
The battery packs a decent 5,000mAh which supports up to 80W SuperVOOC charging that takes 46 minutes from 0-to-100. The Pro variant measures 161.4×74.7×7.40mm and weighs 180 grams, compared to the dimensions of the standard model which measures 161.4×74.1×7.6mm and weighs 177 grams.
