Philippe Coutinho is set to join Vasco Da Gama in his native country, Brazil, in the coming days. The midfielder is waiting for the green light from Aston Villa over the termination of his current contract with them.

Once his exit has been finalised, the deal with Vasco da Gama will be signed, as the terms of the move have already been agreed.

The 32-year-old came up through the Vasco da Gama academy, and took his first steps in Europe through Inter Milan upon joining them in 2010. Since then, he has gone on to play for Liverpool, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Villa.

This past season, the midfielder was on loan at Qatari side Al Duhail, scoring seven goals and providing three assists across 24 games. However, his playing time and contributions were significantly limited because of recurring injuries.

Now, he is set to end his spell in Europe and return home after a 14-year spell, during which he has won almost every available trophy at club level.

Villa have an interesting summer coming up ahead, having let go of Douglas Luiz as well, but recruiting Ian Maatsen to bolster their defence.
