Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 Plus shifts to MediaTek: Confirmed by Geekbench

That was not the only device from Samsung to be spotted on Geekbench today, as Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S24 FE smartphone also surfaced. The upcoming Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 Plus has also been spotted on the platform.

That tablet is identified by model number SM-X828U which also matches entries in the IMEI database that confirm it to be the Galaxy Tab S10 Plus. The one with the “U” will likely be the US variant, while the remaining parts are the model variants SM-X826B for Global and SM-X826N, probably the South Korean version.

In what comes as a surprise, the tablet was seen on Geekbench with MediaTek Dimensity 9300+ chipset on board. Samsung would usually opt for Qualcomm’s best chipset for its Tab S line-up, but the firm has apparently leaned towards MediaTek for the Galaxy Tab S10 line-up. The Dimensity 9300+ octa-core chipset is heavily focused and ships a single Cortex-X4 core clocked at 3.25Ghz, three Cortex-X4 cores at 2.85Ghz, and four Cortex-A720 cores at 2Ghz. It will probably include a Mali-G720 Immortalis MP12 graphic processor.

In synthetic benchmarks, the tablet produced a single-core performance of 2,141 points and a multi-core performance of 6,952 points. It’s accompanied by 12GB of RAM and should be running Android 14. While the shift to MediaTek is significant, a previous report suggested Samsung might adopt a dual-chip strategy for its tablets, similar to its approach with the Galaxy S series phones, involving Qualcomm and Exynos rather than MediaTek.

With the appearance of the Dimensity 9300+ on the tablet, it remains uncertain whether the earlier report was inaccurate or if MediaTek is replacing another chipset brand in Samsung’s lineup. Details about the Galaxy Tab S10 Plus are currently sparse, but it is expected to be accompanied by the Tab S10 Ultra and possibly a standard Galaxy Tab S10 model.
