Barcelona president Joan Laporta has confirmed that Joao Felix and Cancelo will both stay at the club for the coming season. The club recently unveiled Hansi Flick as their new head coach after sacking Xavi Hernandez.
And according to the president, the German wants both players to remain in the squad for the coming season. When asked previously, Laporta indicated that the pair’s loan deals could be extended. And now, it seems like the time has come for the negotiations with their parent clubs to take place.

While Joao Felix is on loan from LaLiga rivals Atletico Madrid, Cancelo is on loan from Premier League champions Manchester City. A buy clause hasn’t been agreed with either club yet, but Barcelona could be forced into agreeing a permanent deal considering the value of the players to their respective clubs.
Felix had a bright start to life in Catalonia, before things evened out for the Portuguese. All in all, he has scored 10 goals and provided six assists in 44 games across four competitions, which isn’t a bad return by any means.
Cancelo, on the other hand, has played over 3,300 minutes for the Culers, scoring four goals and providing five assists.
Both players have several years left on their current contracts with their parent clubs, meaning a deal won’t come cheap for Barcelona, even if they manage to secure another loan deal for the Joaos.
