In the Outlands, get ready for a shakeup, Legends! Apex Legends Season 21: Upheaval is bringing a wave of exciting changes, including a new Legend with mysterious origins, a significant Broken Moon map revamp, and the highly-anticipated return of Solos Mode. Before we go into the arena for season 21, let’s take a look at all you need to know.
All About Everything You Need to Know:
When Does Season 21 Begin?
Mark your calendars! Apex Legends Season 21: Upheaval launches on Tuesday, May 7th.
Introducing Alter, the New Legend
A new legend, Alter, will be introduced to the 21st season. Respawn describes the mysterious figure as “a villain” shrouded in secrecy. Whispers suggest she’s a well-trained interdimensional assassin with a past shrouded in lies and half-truths. One thing to note: Alter’s language is Cantonese, which makes her the First Legend with a China background.
What are Alter’s Abilities?
While Alter’s background remains a mystery, her skills are not what they seem. She has a breakdown of her powers:
Tactical: Void Passage – Create portals through surfaces, allowing for strategic movement and flanking maneuvers.
Passive: Gift From The Rift – Loot death boxes remotely to snag valuable items (excluding armor) from fallen foes.
Ultimate: Void Nexus – Install a device that’s supposed to act as a recovery point. It can be activated by the Allies to return to its location, perfect for strategic redeployment.
Solos Mode Makes a Triumphant Return
Fan requests have been heard! For a limited period of time, Solos Mode returns for the initial six weeks of season 21, while Duos Mode is gone. This revamped Solos experience caters to players who prefer a lone-wolf playstyle.
What’s New in Solos Mode?
Respawn will introduce a few new features to enhance your experience with Solos:
Fully-kitted Weapons: Say goodbye to scrambling for decent loot! Players will drop into the arena with pre-equipped weapons and attachments.
Respawn Tokens: Get a second chance! These tokens allow players to redeploy after being eliminated, offering a valuable shot at redemption.
Broken Moon Gets a Dramatic Makeover
In the 21st season, Broken Moon is undergoing an important transformation. A new point of interest (POI), the Quarantine Zone, is being established to replace the familiar Promenade area. The aim of this revision is to resolve the issue of distribution of spoils and increase squad rotation.
What Else is Changing on Broken Moon?
Beyond the new POI, the makeover of the Broken Moon goes beyond that. You can expect the following:
Mutated Flora: The alien vegetation has undergone a transformation, adding a vibrant new aesthetic to the map.
New Skybox: Gaze upwards and witness a breathtaking new skybox reflecting the moon’s altered state.
Hidden Secrets: Keep an eye out for “unknown alien eggs” discovered during the cleanup process. The Quarantine Zone serves as a containment area for these potential threats, hinting at a deeper story.
Legend Buffs and Nerfs
Some of the Legends’ powers are also adapted for season 21. A notable change involves Newcastle’s Castle Wall ultimate. Respawn has empowered Castle Wall to turn away grenades besides bullets, in response to the frequent pairing of players from Newcastle and Wattson.
Prepare for Upheaval
For Apex Legends, season 21 promises to be a game changer. Upheaval is a unique experience for both experienced veterans and newcomers, thanks to its new Legend, fresh map, Solos Mode return, as well as strategic adjustments. Now, when the 21st season begins on May 7th, you’ll be sharpening your skills, Legends, and preparing yourself to conquer the Outlands!
