Steam Survey says Intel losing grounds to AMD rapidly, can Zen 3 overturn the game for AMD totally?

As per the latest Steam Hardware & Software Survey: September 2020 report, things doesn’t look good for Intel as it continues to lose market share to its sole rival AMD. Now, the Red team owns a chunk of market share as it now has 1/4th of it for the first time.

AMD has pounced back in 2017 with its Ryzen processors and revolutionized the processor market as a whole with its ‘Zen’ architecture. Intel, who took things lightly, has now nowhere to go as even it has lost the gaming crown to AMD recently.

If you see the market share for the last 5 months, Intel has been losing share steadily while AMD has been gaining shares rapidly. Now it has 25.75% of market share as of September 2020 while Intel losing another – 0.85%.

Intel did own that much huge percentage because AMD suddenly had gone rouge but with Ryzen things have changed totally. Also, Intel’s dominance will decrease as it will steadily lose Apple as its biggest customer.

The Cupertino giant will slowly and steadily switch to its own SoCs, which means Intel will lose more shares in the coming days. Not only things have looked bad for Intel in terms of Windows and macOS, but also as per Steam’s Linux hardware survey, Intel has lost chunks of share in that as well.

Professionals and servers are now opting AMD for its multi-threaded performance, and this scenario will not change as Intel’s gaming dominance has come to an end with AMD’s Zen 3 CPUs as you see Intel has lost over 1% market share each month.

Will AMD’s Zen 3 put a coffin to Intel’s 10th gen lineup?

Well, well, well AMD has finally killed Intel’s gaming supremacy that was the only thing that it could brag about. AMD’s latest Ryzen 5000 series CPUs have almost 26% better gaming performance than last-gen, so not only creators but also gamers will be opting for AMD now.

AMD Ryzen 5000 series in details: up to 16 cores and 32 threads with a 19% IPC uplift, starts at $299

The best part is that the amazing efficiency of these AMD CPUs haven’t changed and you still have the superior multi-threaded performance as before. This increase in single-core performance will help AMD in games, professional software and those applications that still are heavily sing-core dependent.

Intel had been relying only on gaming benchmarks, and in that too AMD Zen 3 CPUs have excelled, even in games like CS: GO. Also the Ryzen 5000 series CPUs have broken Intel’s best single-core record, both Ryzen 9 5900X and Ryzen 9 5950X have over 600+ points in Cinebench.
