10. Orjan Nyland

Emiliano Martinez did well enough to replace the injured Leno last season to warrant himself a first-team spot. His starting position comes at the cost of former Villa keeper Nyland who was released by the club this summer.

9. Kwadwo Asamoah

One of the more recent players to become a free agent, Asamoah and former club Inter called it a day only earlier this week. At only 31, he could still be a valuable part of a fair number of European backlines with his fair share of Serie A experience.

8. Jack Wilshere

Wilshere has been without a club for some time since his tenure at West Ham United ended. We didn’t see a lot of the former Arsenal man with the Hammers and that is mainly due to injuries. He now finds himself a free agent to wisely choose the club of his future. At 28, Wilshere is still in his peak years as a footballer.

7. Danny Welbeck

One of, if not the youngest player on this list, Danny Welbeck has had the opportunity to play for two of England’s best teams in Arsenal and Manchester United under their best ever managers. At 29, he is still in his prime and a team like Sheffield United could really use a quality finisher like him.

6. Hatem Ben Arfa

Capable of producing magic with his feet on his day, Ben Arfa is now a free agent following the expiry of his temporary deal with La Liga side Valladolid. Despite being over 30, Ben Arfa is a player worth taking a chance on given the promise that he brings to any club.

5. Samir Nasri

Having most recently played for Anderlecht in the Belgian league, Samir Nasri is a free agent at 33. He is best known for his spells with Arsenal, Man City, Marseille and Sevilla. Extremely versatile and experienced, Nasri can still produce good performances despite his age.

4. Ezequiel Garay

Garay was one of the victims of the massive sale of players at Valencia which included the likes of Dani Parejo, Rodrigo and Ferran Torres to begin with. The Argentinian can still provide cover at the back to European teams and has a few good years left in him at the very least.

3. Nathaniel Clyne

Replaced by Trent Alexander-Arnold at Liverpool, Nathaniel Clyne was one of Jurgen Klopp’s original Liverpool XI. He has since had his career plagued with injuries and is currently a free agent. Clyne is rumoured to be on Crystal  Palace’s radar.

2. Mario Mandzukic

Mandzukic has won pretty much all there is to win in club football. His game, well into his 30s, can still make any club in the world better and as a free agent who terminated his contract with Al-Duhail. He could still offer a good year or two to any top club in Europe.

1. Daniel Sturridge

Ever since leaving Liverpool, Sturridge had been playing in the Turkish Super League, for Trabzonspor. At 31, he can still offer a lot to any team that signs him with the sort of quality and experience that he possesses.
