Borussia Dortmund are prepared to meet Manchester United’s asking price of around €35-40 million for Jadon Sancho this summer. The winger has returned to Germany on a straight loan deal, and is expected to return to United in the summer once the season ends.
While he hasn’t hit the ground running, he has shown signs of his former self and has scored and assisted a goal each in eight Bundesliga appearances. He also picked up the man of the match award, scoring once as Borussia Dortmund defeated PSV 2-0 to advance to the quarter finals of the Champions League.
Sources indicate that it is still too early to conclude whether Sancho sees his long-term future in black and yellow, but if he continues to improve, Dortmund could bring him back permanently.
Jadon Sancho not expected to stay at Manchester United
The 23-year-old struggled a lot after his move to Manchester United. Game time proved to be elusive after his arrival, and disciplinary issues ruled him out under Erik Ten Hag in both seasons.
As a result, a future at Manchester United seems extremely unlikely for the winger. With the likes of Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho and Antony regularly competing for game time in the wide positions, it seems unlikely that Sancho will be able to force his way back into the team even if he can reconcile with Ten Hag.
Therefore, a move away suits all parties, since United will be able to cut their losses and move on a high-earning player who simply isn’t contributing to their season.
