Arsenal are on the lookout for a new centre-forward, and have been actively exploring options after the club decided not to engage in any transfer business in January due to the Financial Fair Play restrictions and availability of desired targets.
In their search for a new striker, different names have been linked to the club with the likes of Ivan Toney, Victor Osimhen, Viktor Gyokeres and Joshua Zirkzee.
But according to a recent report from Italian outlet Calciomercato, the Gunners have emerged as a strong contender in the pursuit of Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee.
Joshua Zirkzee being scouted by Arsenal and Manchester United
The 22-year-old Dutch striker has been a standout performer in Serie A this season, scoring 11 goals this season. And in turn, drawing attention from clubs across Italy, Germany, and England. AC Milan have been persistently interested in Zirkzee, making him their primary target ahead of the summer.
However, an international auction for the former Bayern Munich player seems plausible, and English clubs, particularly Arsenal, have expressed significant interest. Manchester United are also in the race to sign the youngster, having sent scouts to watch him firsthand recently. But that hasn’t deterred the Gunners from stepping up to land the forward in the summer.
