5G set to revolutionize IoT but not any time soon

5G technology is the most anticipated networking update ever. Many people are still ignorant of the impact that 5G technology will have on the tech industry and our lives. So today, let’s discuss 5G!

What’s so Good about 5G?

The most important thing to know about 5G is that the tech will significantly impact the Internet of Things (IoT). Any high-tech company that embraces 5G will drive new growth and revenue opportunities in the future.

With the ability to support 1 million devices in a square kilometer radius, 5G is 10x faster than its processor 4G and is on par with most wired connections. It can offer up to 20 Gbps, while offering ease of deployment of a wireless network, becoming the first viable alternative to a wired connection.

The IoT industry, which stands to benefit more from 5G, is mostly High-tech Industries. Industrial manufacturing, Smart Buildings, and smart cities, health care, and automotive all these IoT based industries will be boosted by the high-speed and easily deployable 5G network. Technology companies are set to become major stakeholders in the overall IoT value chain and greatly contribute to 5G technology’s commercialization.

Why is the new tech so late?

Many prominent players in the global ecosystem are working aggressively to make worldwide 5G deployment a reality. They are faced with many problems with the deployment due to the technology being new. The best possible method for a successful deployment is linked with trials and errors as there are no possible tutorials available in the market to aid the engineers.

The COVID-19 has severely limited the co-operation between many industries and also limited most of the onsight operations. Not to mention the on-going scuffle between the US and China has pushed Huawei’s 5G development years behind other competitors.

Every tech giant is obtaining patents for their 5G innovative technology, which results in a lack of collaboration between investors and innovators.

The Future

Technologies such as cloud, security, AI, and edge computing can deliver significant economic advantages to businesses by incorporating 5G. IoT is moving our fragmented world of devices to a connected ecosystem that knows no boundaries. The Future of technology lies with the Internet of Things and the future of IoT is 5G.
