Intel is getting ready to launch a CPU as part of its Raptor Lake Refresh lineup, the Core i5 14490F which belongs to the exclusive ‘Black Edition’ category. Even though the name might seem different compared to CPUs, the Gen “Non-K” series follows the tradition of its predecessor, the Core i5 13490F, and is part of Intel’s specialized ‘Black Edition’ range. Similar to ‘Black Edition’ processors like the Core i7 13790F and Core i5 12490F this iteration also aims at providing improved performance value for Chinese consumers.

The All New Intel Core i5-14490F ‘Black Edition’

These “Black Edition” CPUs have been mainly designed with the market in mind offering performance without the higher price tag that comes with overclockable variants. It remains uncertain whether or not there will be a release for the Core i5 14490F or if it will be limited to availability in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region.

According to leaks, from @wxnod it is anticipated that the Intel Core i5 14490F CPU will come with a configuration of 10 cores and 16 threads (6 P Core + 4 E Core) to its counterpart, the Core i5 14400. The processor is expected to operate at a frequency of 2.5 GHz and can reach a turbo frequency of 5.0 GHz all while consuming a power of 65W. This means that the Core i5 14490F surpasses the capabilities of the i5 14400 by providing a boost of 300 MHz, over the Intel Core i5 14400F and an increase of 400 MHz compared to its predecessor, the Core i5 13490F.

As the SKU is just emerging, details such as pricing remain limited for now. However, based on previous trends, it is anticipated that this China-centric CPU might be priced slightly higher than the Core i5-14400. The full lineup of Intel’s 14th Gen Non-K CPUs is expected to be unveiled in the coming days, providing a comprehensive overview of the offerings and shedding light on the complete picture of Intel’s latest processor series.
