Sergio Reguilon set for 2nd loan spell after leaving Manchester United

Manchester United have triggered the break clause in Sergio Reguilon’s loan deal from Tottenham, with the left-back now set to return to Spurs. With Luke Shaw back from injury and Tyrell Malacia also expected to return very soon, United have made the call to let the Spaniard go since they have two options in that position.

Reguilon made 12 appearances for Manchester United across all competitions, and is now expected to sign for another club on loan as Ange Postecoglou doesn’t see him as part of his plans yet.

Sergio Reguilon to go out on loan again from Spurs

Manchester United were initially planning on signing Marc Cucurella on loan from Chelsea, but were unable to get the player. Instead, they opted to sign Sergio Reguilon and were always planning on activating the break clause.

The lack of available fixtures has also played a part in Reguilon being sent back, since United are no longer in the Champions League as well as the Carabao Cup.

Borussia Dortmund could be one of the possible destinations for Reguilon since they want a new left-back to compete with Ramy Bensebaini, with the new signing unable to live up to expectations. Dortmund are unwilling to pay Chelsea €30 million for Ian Maatsen, and could potentially work out a deal with Spurs for their player.
