Ten years after Michael Schumacher’s skiing accident in the Alpine resort of Meribel, very little concrete information is known about the status of the legendary Ferrari driver. He was at the resort in France alongside his son Mick, who was fourteen years old at the time.

Schumacher reportedly hit a rock on a simple stretch of the track after going past the boundary. Early speculation suggested that he had been reckless at the time, but his manager later clarified that he had done so to help a fallen skier. In the process, he landed on his head and injured it severely.

After arriving at a hospital, he was declared to be in a coma, which lasted until June 26, 2014. He left CHU Grenoble and was declared out of a coma. The doctors added that his recovery would take place at home after that point.

The main reason behind him being discharged was the fact that he could breathe on his own. He didn’t have any food since the accident as he couldn’t digest it. And over the course of his stay, he only had a few moments of consciousness.

In 2019, he was taken to Paris for a stem cell procedure in the Georges Pompidou European Hospital. But, no updates have come out since then. Although it has been indicated that Michael Schumacher is conscious, whether or not he can speak, or carry out other functions is unclear.
