Qualcomm to stuck on TSMC for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC as a trusted partner

It’s strange because we haven’t even had a chance to witness the recently introduced Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in action, yet a well-known tipster on X has revealed some intriguing information about the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC.

Qualcomm to stuck on TSMC for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC

According to reports, the chip designer decided to bet on TSMC again because it plans to use exclusive Oryon CPU cores and doesn’t want to use the extra cores to lose power and efficiency. One may argue that Qualcomm isn’t persuaded by Samsung’s performance and yields.

Next year, Qualcomm will once again rely only on TSMC to produce the 3nm-based Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset, according to @Tech_Reve. The chip designer allegedly made the decision to wager on TSMC once more since it intends to employ unique Oryon CPU cores and doesn’t want to sacrifice power and efficiency using the additional cores. You may argue that Samsung’s performance and yields aren’t enough to convince Qualcomm.

As previously said, the release of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is over a year away, yet leaks are still coming in. The incoming SD4Gen1 achieved 10,000 points on Geekbench, and the Adreno 830 GPU onboard promises substantial performance gains while using the same power as the SD8Gen2, according to tipster @Tech_Reve. Furthermore, the SoC is supposedly only using 8W of power. In contrast, SD8 Gen 3 consumes 6.27W on average, whereas SD8 Gen 2 uses 4.9W on average.
