The highlight of the match was undoubtedly Ben Stokes’ first-ever World Cup century. Stokes’ exceptional 108 off 84 balls played a pivotal role in propelling England to a total of 339 for 9. Despite a middle-order collapse, Stokes and Chris Woakes came to the rescue, helping England set a formidable target for the Netherlands.

The England bowlers exhibited their prowess, and Moeen Ali and Adil Rashid stood out with their exceptional three-wicket hauls. Their spin magic tore through the Netherlands’ middle order, putting the brakes on any hopes of a Dutch comeback. England’s clinical performance with the ball ensured the Netherlands could only manage 179 runs in 37.2 overs.

Their victory temporarily pushed them up to seventh place in the rankings, setting the stage for an intense competition for that coveted position. With just the right amount of points and a considerable victory margin, England’s hopes are alive and well.

While the Netherlands put up a spirited fight, they couldn’t capitalize on their starts. Teja Nidamanuru top-scored with an unbeaten 41, but his effort wasn’t enough to match England’s formidable total. The Dutch middle-order couldn’t withstand the onslaught of England’s spinners and found themselves struggling at 179 runs.

Moeen Ali and Adil Rashid’s performance in this game highlighted their significance in the England lineup. Their ability to break partnerships and claim wickets in crucial moments was instrumental in England’s victory. England’s spinners provided the ideal complement to Ben Stokes’ century, creating a winning formula.
