Arsenal are trying to sign Domagoj Vida from Besiktas. They are willing to offer a fee as high as €28m for the defender. Vida admits it’s his dream to play in the Premier League, according to reports in Turkey.
Arsenal are set to complete the transfer of Besiktas defender Domagoj Vida if Calum Chambers completes his move to Fulham according to the Fanatik sports newspaper. Besiktas are preparing to part company with their in-demand star centre-back Domagoj Vida this week. According to the daily Turkish sports paper Fanatik, Besiktas officials expect Vida to be sold this week. The report goes onto state that Besiktas are hoping to raise at least £25 million for the Croatia international.
Interestingly, Besiktas signed Vida for free back in January after his contract with Dinamo Kiev expired. The defender’s stock has risen following an impressive showing at the 2018 World Cup where he helped lead Croatia to the final. Hehas another four years remaining on his contract with the Istanbul giants. The 29-year-old made a total of 19 appearances for Besiktas last season. If Vida’s dream is to move to England, Vida doesn’t have long to make that a reality. The transfer window closes on Thursday. And as he says himself, he’s unlikely to get this chance again. The defender’s World Cup performances with Croatia and the fact he’s not quite 30 yet make a transfer a real possibility, but that won’t help him a year from now.
