Though it would be the company’s first product to employ a microLED panel, Apple might not ship the 2024 Apple Watch Ultra next year either. There’s minimal likelihood that the flagship smartwatch will be out in a year because, in the opinion of one expert, the development process has not even started.
The Apple Watch Ultra might not launch soon: Rumors
According to analyst Ming Chi-Kuo, who is quoted in the story, the US tech giant has not yet begun the development process. He cites the need for additional time to improve health management features and resolve production issues with microLED technology. It appears more likely that if the project doesn’t get underway by December, the release of the next-generation watch will be delayed.
As 9to5Mac pointed out, Kuo claims that the main reason for the delay is the apparent departure from Apple’s usual product development timeline. Ming Chi-Kuo continued, “If Apple doesn’t officially kick off the Apple Watch Ultra 3 project by December, it’s becoming more certain that a new Apple Watch Ultra won’t be released in 2024.”
It’s noteworthy that Apple hasn’t yet released an official statement confirming that work on its next-generation wearable has begun. It is therefore advised to proceed cautiously with these rumors.
