Barca-Liverpool-Bayern: Sunday’s transfer roundup

Here are all the latest developments in the Barcelona rebuild under Ronald Koeman:

  • Barcelona is reportedly looking to offload a decent part of their squad this season in an attempt to rebuild their team.
  • First to get the axe seems to be midfielder Arturo Vidal, who is heavily linked with joining Inter Milan and striker Luiz Suarez, repeatedly associated with joining Cristiano Ronaldo at Juventus.
  • Barca are willing to sign Liverpool midfielder Gini Wijnaldum. Although no official bid has been launched as of yet, the Barca board does expect to land the Dutch Midfielder to link up with Koeman.
  • Keeping with the Dutch theme at Catalonia, Barca are also keen on landing Lyon striker Memphis who has managed to revive his career after struggling to make an impact at a big team, in his case, Manchester United.
  • Barca expect to get both deals done for about €50-55 million tops. They have been keeping in contact with both of their agents, and an official bid will be submitted in the next few days.
  • Should Gini Wijnaldum make the move to Spain, Liverpool will go for Thiago. They are still in contact with his agent and are expected to shell out €30 million for the Spaniard.
  • Although it is not certain that Liverpool will sell Wijnaldum, they haven’t yet received an official bid. Things will become a lot clearer in the days to come.
  • Manchester United also had a talk with Thiago’s agent but have not contacted Bayern as of yet.
  • According to a recent report by Spanish media outlet Mundo Deportivo, Barca could pull off a complete u-turn and go for their former player, Thiago. However, it would be ignorant to rule out a move for Wijnaldum to Barca either.

A move for Thiago looks certain. The only variable is where the move will take him. In the case of Liverpool, they want to make some money from the sale of Wijnaldum before investing in Thiago
