The recently released OnePlus Open is a definite example of how foldable phones have undergone ongoing advancements and tweaks over the years. However, it is not the only choice available and it has proven that the previously reliable Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 is extremely adequate. Which smartphone, then, is the best foldable? Let’s examine it in detail to find out.

OnePlus Open vs Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 Design Comparison:

ONEPLUS OPEN	SAMSUNG GALAXY Z FOLD5
153.4mm (height)	154.9mm (height)
73.3mm (width, folded)	67.1mm (width, folded)
11.9mm (thickness, folded)	13.4mm (thickness, folded)
239 grams	253 grams

The most striking feature of the recently released OnePlus Open’s slimmer design is its undetectable wrinkle. Yes! In contrast to the Galaxy Z Fold 5, the foldable phone’s crease is hardly noticeable. It’s incredibly difficult to confirm if the smartphone’s display is hinged while it’s in use. This is one of the most significant elements that has left an impression on us in terms of design. Since the cover display is nearly the size of a typical phone, you can still use the device from the secondary display without sacrificing the viewing experience if you don’t want to unfold it again.

OnePlus Open vs Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 Processor Comparison

The OnePlus Open and Galaxy Z Fold5 both use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC and UFS 4.0 storage. The Galaxy Z Fol5 has 12GB of RAM, whilst the OnePlus Open has 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM. In our testing (Geekbench, Antutu, and Throttle), the Samsung foldable performs more favorably, which is surprising.

In actual use, both phones perform well. While there may be some heating issues with both devices, the OnePlus Open may be more obvious. Don’t get your expectations up because foldable phones aren’t primarily designed with gaming in mind. But when you play games like BGMI and Pokemon Unite, you could have some temperature problems.

OnePlus Open vs Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 Camera Comparison

OnePlus is approaching the first foldable smartphone camera arrangement in a novel and creative way. The 48MP main camera, the 64MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, and the 48MP ultra-wide lens are all significant advancements in camera technology for OnePlus. Although the performance in the actual world has not yet been evaluated, these parameters on paper show considerable potential. This highlights OnePlus’s dedication to making an investment in its first foldable device and expanding the capabilities of cameras.

The Samsung Galaxy Fold 5’s camera arrangement, which consists of a 50MP main camera, a 12MP ultrawide camera, and a 10MP telephoto lens, maintains a more traditional approach. The configuration is substantially unchanged, losing the chance for improvement and considerable advancements despite the fact that these cameras have demonstrated their dependability and consistency in earlier Fold models. With regard to the camera technology in their foldable smartphones, this strategy raises the possibility that Samsung may not be as motivated to innovate.

The Galaxy Z Fold5’s 4,400mAh battery supports 15W wireless charging and 25W cable charging. The OnePlus Open charges a lot faster (in around 50 minutes), without a doubt. It can take an hour to fully charge the Galaxy Z Fold5 with the right charger. Samsung doesn’t provide a charger or a protective case, however OnePlus ships with an 80W charger.
