Exynos 1480 makes its first appearance on Geekbench

Among the rumors and claims about the Samsung Galaxy S24 series, it appears that the South Korean conglomerate is working on a new Exynos processor with AMD graphics. The SoC in question is the Exynos 1480, which has now debuted on Geekbench, revealing some of the hardware specifications.

Exynos 1480 with model number S5E8845 apppeared on Geekbench

According to the listing, the chipset would have an octa-core design with four efficiency cores clocked at 2.05GHz and the remaining four performance cores clocked at 2.75GHz. Exynos 1480 will have a base frequency of 2.05GHz and will be paired with Samsung’s Xclipse 530 GPU, which is likely to be based on AMD’s RDNA 2 graphics architecture.

Exynos 1480

According to Geekbench, the Exynos 1480 scored 882 points in the single-core test and 2808 points in the multi-core test. These results may not be particularly amazing, particularly given that the chipset will power the Galaxy A55, a premium mid-range smartphone. When compared to the Exynos 1380, the performance is not awful. For comparison, the Galaxy A54 with the Exynos 1380 got 776 points in the single-core Geekbench 5 test and 2599 points in the multi-core test.

The Geekbench listing verifies a previous Galaxy Club story that the Galaxy A55 with Exynos 1480 is in the works. The phone, like the Galaxy A54, is likely to be released in the first quarter of next year. Apart from the chipset, the phone may not receive much improvements.
