Marc Jurado is one of the most promising players of his generation. He formed a part of Barcelona’s Juvenil A side and was expected to progress to their youth team, Barca B, within a couple of years.
The 16-year-old right-back was born in Sabadell, just outside Barcelona. He joined La Masia (Barcelona’s youth academy) at the age of 7 after impressing at local club CF Can Rull (where he had played since he was four). He has been a La Masia player for the past nine years.
But sadly, Jurado has refused several contract offers from the club worth up to €300,000 per year after having been contacted by the Red Devils. It is a fantastic signing for United, who are continuing to build an incredibly talented squad in the 16-17-year-old age group.
Fichajes.com’s Pedro Parra complains: “It is nothing new to note in these times that one of the main Old Continent powers benefits from the talent that other clubs bring out in their youth categories.”
“On this occasion, as has been a trend throughout the most recent campaigns, a foreign squad has found a vein in national territory.”
“Talent drain – Barça have let Jurado escape.”.
Manchester United has got a very good young player who could prove to be a future star and Barcelona has once again failed to keep one of their academy graduates.
