Bernardo Silva’s new contract with Manchester City contains a remarkably low release clause. The Portugal international signed a new deal with the treble winners this summer, which runs until 2026. But, there is a possibility that he could leave next summer and the price for his exit has seemingly been revealed.

Silva’s new deal contains a £50 million release clause which will be valid from the summer of 2024. Which means clubs from across Europe can activate it if they reach an agreement on personal terms with the player.

The midfielder has been chosen as one of the captain’s for the club this season, alongside Kyle Walker, Kevin De Bruyne, Ruben Dias and Rodri. He has now spent six years in Manchester and was one of the most important players for Pep Guardiola as they won the treble this past season.

His role has changed from that of a right winger to a versatile central midfielder, allowing a new wide player to slot into the frontline. One of the main reasons Bernardo Silva stayed was to continue fighting for titles with the Sky Blues.

And in spite of the release clause in his contract, there are no guarantees that he will leave next summer. Barcelona and PSG tried to sign him this summer, but could not convince him or City to sell.
