The space-faring RPG Starfield, Bethesda’s first new IP in 25 years, was formally released on September 6 and has already become the studio’s biggest game launch in history. That allure has attracted players from all around the world, many of whom were able to play the game five days early by purchasing the Premium or Constellation Editions.
As we already know, Starfield has managed to secure over 200,000 concurrent players on Steam during its early access period. Also it managed to surpass over 1 million concurrent gamers across all platforms on its opening day.

Bethesda has officially confirmed that Starfield has surpassed 6 million gamers as of September 7, one day after its official launch.
It is crucial to bear in mind that Starfield is exclusive to the Xbox platform. As a result, a significant number of players who have previously enjoyed Bethesda’s games will not have the opportunity to play their latest RPG. This raises the question of the potential magnitude of the launch if the game had also been available for the PlayStation 5.
When Starfield was revealed in 2018, players on both PlayStation and Xbox were naturally excited. However, in March 2021, Microsoft acquired Bethesda, and in November of the same year, it was announced that the game would be exclusive to the Xbox system. This decision left a significant portion of the player base feeling excluded, and it has become a popular topic of discussion on social media, with even Sony commenting on Starfield’s exclusivity to Xbox.
Bethesda Executive Producer Todd Howard, on the other hand, has stated that Xbox exclusivity improved Starfield by allowing the development team to focus on optimizing for only two platforms, Xbox Series X/S and PC, rather than three.
