Chelsea have agreed the signing of Cole Palmer from Manchester City for a fee worth £40 million upfront plus £5 million in add-ons. The player will be undergoing his medical for the transfer in the coming hours before being officially announced as a new signing for the club.

The 21-year-old is expected to be the last new signing for the Blues this summer after a massive spending spree. He is expected to fill in the void left by injuries to Carney Chukwuemeka and Christopher Nkunku and can feature in a number 10 role, as well as out wide if needed.

Palmer has been hailed as a top talent by his teammates and coaches over the years. He has been unable to get regular playing time under Pep Guardiola since being called up to the senior squad, and the expectation was for him to leave on a permanent transfer after the UEFA Super Cup win where he scored the match-winning goal.

He has agreed personal terms with Chelsea as well, and it will be interesting to see how things turn out for him in West London. His talent is undeniable and he has shown his abilities when he has been given opportunities. And under Mauricio Pochettino, he could develop himself into a much more developed player.

City have signed Matheus Nunes from Wolves to offset the loss of Cole Palmer and the injury to Kevin De Bruyne this summer.
