Sergio Ramos has rejected an offer from Liga MX’s Club America and could reunite with former Real Madrid teammate Karim Benzema at Al Ittihad. The defender has been without a club since leaving PSG at the end of his contract in July. And even though there have been rumours about his next club, there haven’t been any solid reports yet.
The negotiations with Club America ended because of the player’s financial demands. Ramos is holding out for a salary worth $8 million per season, which is something that Saudi Arabian clubs will be able to afford.
Sergio Ramos linked with Al Ittihad transfer after PSG spell
The 37-year-old left Real Madrid in 2021 after they decided to not offer him a new contract. He has since spent two years with PSG, but was unable to play regularly due to injuries. And till now, he has been unable to find a new club.
The Spaniard was linked with a transfer to Inter Miami as well, which would see him reunite with PSG teammate Lionel Messi. But, he has ruled out a transfer to the club ending speculation about the two former rivals playing as teammates once again.
It now remains to be seen whether Al Ittihad will be able to sign another Real Madrid icon after signing Karim Benzema from Los Blancos.
