Colombian midfielder James Rodriguez is on his way to sign for Sao Paulo in Brazil. The player is set to sign for them after negotiating the final details of the contract in person. The move will see the midfielder sign for a fourth club in as many years after leaving Real Madrid.
The player has been without a club since leaving Olympiacos in April, and is now closing in on a return to South America. He had an offer from the MLS as well, but decided to turn it down in favour of a move to Brazil. Rodriguez recently uploaded a photo of him in an aeroplane to imply that he was moving to a new club, and an official confirmation is expected very soon.
James Rodriguez to sign for Sao Paulo imminently
The presence of Rafinha has been important in making the move happen. The pair played together in Bayern Munich, when James Rodriguez was on loan from Real Madrid. They share a good friendship and they are now expected to play again for Sao Paulo.
Rodriguez has accepted the major portion of the contract proposal made by the Brazilian club. According to some rumours, he could be earning a salary worth €3 million, which was what he was earning at Olympiacos as well.
The 32-year-old scored five goals and provided six assists in 20 games for Olympiacos during his time with them. And after showing that he is still capable of putting up decent stats, he will be expected to have an important role as part of Sao Paulo as well.
