Intel Meteor Lake CPU will reportedly have boosts upto 5 GHz

A brand-new iGPU built using the Arc Alchemist Xe-LPG IP will be included with Intel’s forthcoming Meteor Lake CPUs. This GPU is anticipated to make up a sizable portion of the chip and offer superior computation and graphics performance over Iris Xe chips from the previous generation.

The top chips in the 1st Gen Core Ultra series, the Intel Meteor Lake “Core Ultra 9” CPUs, will have some respectable clock rates, according to information made public by Golden Pig Upgrade. Compared to current chips, which can boost up to 5.4 GHz, they won’t be particularly innovative, but because these are the first generation of chips on a new process node, they will still operate at 5.0 GHz clock speeds.

The leaker obtained information from an EV QS sample with a customizable TDP ranging from 20 to 65 Watts. This chip is packaged in a 6+8+2LPE with the top configuration. These include 2 extra Crestmont Cores that will be located in the SOC tile, 8 Efficiency cores based on the Crestmont architecture, and 6 Performance cores based on the Redwood Cove architecture. This results in a system with 20 cores and 22 threads. This configuration, which includes 1.6 MB of L1, 18 MB of L2, and 24 MB of L3 cache, is essentially the same as what we saw at Computex 2023.

We already know that Intel’s Xe-LPG variant will use the Arc Alchemist graphics architecture.

The GPU computing tile on this chip will have a total of 128 EUs and use the TSMC 5nm manufacturing node, while the CPU compute tile will use the Intel 4 process node. The iGPU’s declared maximum clock speed of 2.2 GHz represents a modest increase over the 2.1 GHz we observed with a prior leaked ES chip.

The chip’s FP32 computing performance should be roughly 4.5 TFLOPs as a result. In comparison to the Iris Xe 96 EU graphics available on Raptor Lake-H CPUs, this represents a 2.25x boost in compute power. Since they have distinct architectures and compute FP32 TFLOPs in different ways, comparisons with AMD’s RDNA GPUs are impossible, although it appears that Intel may overtake AMD’s Radeon 700M “RDNA 3” iGPUs by a significant margin. Manufacturers have already said that the performance of this iGPU can reach RTX 3050 levels.
