Sahal Samad is close to completing a transfer to Mohun Bagan Super Giant in the coming days. The midfielder recently had interest from Saudi Arabia over a move, but the contact was not anything serious.
A deal with the Mariners looks advanced, and Kerala Blasters are likely to part ways with their best player in the coming week. It would involve Pritam Kotal going the other way, with the Mohun Bagan captain already agreeing to terms with his new club.
Sahal Samad and Pritam Kotal to exchange clubs this summer
It seems unlikely that the move is a direct swap given that Kotal’s exit was finalised weeks ago. Samad will be the second major Indian midfielder to join the maroon and green club this summer, with Anirudh Thapa already making the move from Chennaiyin FC.
Sahal Samad was particularly impressive during India’s recent triumph at the SAFF Championship over the last few weeks. With Mohun Bagan Super Giant likely parting ways with Hugo Boumous prior to the start of the season, the arrival of the Kerala Blasters talisman will be a huge boost for the club.
However, the competition for playing time will also be quite high with other names like Federico Gallego and Lalrinliana Hnamte also expected to stay.
