Mohun Bagan Super Giant, earlier known as ATK Mohun Bagan, unveiled their logo ahead of the upcoming 2023-24 ISL season.
ISL 2023-24: Mohun Bagan Super Giant unveils new logo before the 2023-24 season
On Monday, 3rd July, the Mohun Bagan Super Giant raised the curtains from their new logo ahead of the ISL 2023-24 season. They shared the same with their fans and supporters through their social media handles.
Founded in 1889, the Kolkata-based Indian Super League team is not only the oldest club in India but also in Asia. Mohun Bagan SuperGiant are the defending ISL Champions, as they defeated Hyderabad FC 4-3 on penalties last season.
The club is owned by RPSG Mohun Bagan Private Limited. It was changed to Mohun Bagan earlier this year following three years of fan petitions to remove ‘ATK’ from the team’s name. Following great discussions, the club finally unveiled its new logo to its supporters.
The new logo of Mohun Bagan Super Giant is developed keeping in harmony with the logo the club had before the term ‘ATK’ was added. The new one has ‘Mohun Bagan’ written in the upper part. The bottom part hosts ‘Super Giant.’ Both sections have Goenka’s RPSG Logo on either side. The absolute center of the boat is a sailboat. The establishment year ‘1889’ is written there very stylishly.Â
Before the merge with ATK, sailing boats didn’t have ‘1889’ inscribed. Rather it would display ‘Foundes 1889’. After being merged with ATK, the ‘1889’ was removed from the logo. That somewhat felt unfair to the millions of fans’ sentiments linked to the club. Thanks to the new logo, the passionate fans are now reunited with ‘1889’ now.
Two year agreement with Armando Sadiku
The club has signed a two-year agreement with the Albanian international Armando Sadiku. He has scored eight goals in his 31 appearances for FC Cartagena in La Liga 2, where he last appeared in 2022-23.
Jason Cummings is a new addition to the team too, who is from Australia. In his last team, he had scored 30 goals in 49 appearances. Anirudh Thapa, the Indian International, was signed for a massive deal of 3 crores by the club.
