Advancing Cloud Native Computing Cloud native workloads are rapidly growing and demand applications built specifically for cloud environments. The AMD EPYC 97X4 processors, with up to 128 cores, deliver up to 3.7x higher throughput performance for key cloud native workloads compared to Ampere. Moreover, the 4th Gen AMD EPYC processors, featuring “Zen 4c” cores, offer up to 2.7x better energy efficiency and support up to 3x more containers per server, enabling seamless execution of cloud native applications at an unprecedented scale.

At the “Data Center and AI Technology Premiere” event, AMD was joined by Meta, who highlighted the suitability of these processors for their popular applications such as Instagram and WhatsApp. Meta reported impressive performance gains with the 4th Gen AMD EPYC 97X4 processors compared to the 3rd Gen EPYC, along with substantial total cost of ownership (TCO) improvements. The collaboration between AMD and Meta resulted in optimized EPYC CPUs that meet Meta’s power efficiency and compute-density requirements.

Exceptional Technical Computing Performance Technical computing plays a vital role in accelerating design iterations and conducting complex simulations for innovative product development. The 4th Gen AMD EPYC processors with AMD 3D V-Cache technology extend the capabilities of the EPYC 9004 Series CPUs, making them the most powerful x86 CPUs for technical computing workloads like computational fluid dynamics (CFD), finite element analysis (FEA), electronic design automation (EDA), and structural analysis. With up to 96 “Zen 4” cores and an industry-leading 1GB+ of L3 cache, these processors can significantly enhance product development by enabling up to twice the number of design jobs per day in Ansys® CFX®.

During the “Data Center and AI Technology Premiere,” Microsoft announced the general availability of Azure HBv4 and HX instances powered by the 4th Gen AMD EPYC processors with AMD 3D V-Cache. These instances are optimized for high-performance computing (HPC) applications and deliver up to 5x performance gains compared to the previous generation HBv3, scaling to hundreds of thousands of CPU cores.

The entire lineup of 4th Gen AMD EPYC processors is available today and offers seamless compatibility with existing AMD EPYC 9004 Series CPU-based systems, providing a smooth upgrade path.
