Novak Djokovic has won the 2023 Roland Garros title, defeating world number 4 Casper Ruud 7-6, 6-3, 7-5 in three straight sets. The Serbian has won the Paris Open for the third time in his career, and now has 23 Grand Slam titles in his career, the most of any tennis player in the history of the sport.

He is currently ranked third, and will return to the top of the ATP rankings on Monday, June 12, following his victorious campaign on the clay court. Ruud put in a spirited performance, and made the Serbian dig deep to win the first set. However, the sheer brilliance that the record champion possessed was too much to handle for Ruud, who was dominated in the second.

The final set was taken to 12 games, with the two players at 6-5. Djokovic served for the championship and was able to overcome the late fight back from his challenger to win the big trophy once again.

Djokovic has now become the first player to win all four major trophies three times over the course of his career. He is halfway to winning the Grand Slam this season, with two major titles already won. And he could be the first man in tennis to have won all four tournaments since Rod Laver in 1969.

Ruud, on the other hand, finished as the runner-up for the second straight season. He acknowledged the inspiration of Djokovic in his post match speech, praising him for his brilliant career so far.

In spite of being 36 years old, Novak Djokovic has presented himself as an unreal athlete. The Serb is showing no signs of slowing down any time soon, and it is anybody’s guess as to how many trophies he will have by the time he retires. His composure, skill and overall game is simply unmatched, and the record books now show him as the man with the most Grand Slam titles after the 2023 Roland Garros win.
