The Blaugranas are desperate to sell the Croatian this summer to generate cash and decrease it’s wage bills. So, after a lot of speculations and transfer rumors, Rakitic will most likely be sold to his former club according to Mundo Deportivo.

He has turned 32 recently and he has spoken publicly on more than one occasion that he wants to end his career at Sevilla. Although the question remains whether or not it is this summer when there can be a favorable context for him to return with his family.

Barcelona can announce Neymar today: Rakitic, Dembele to be swapped

He had a lovely time at Seville, where he met his wife, Raquel when he was a member of the Nervión club. So, Seville is the best destination for the Croatian to end his glorious career and what contribution he had to Barcelona for 6 years is immense, so the club respects that. But, they are not interested in renewing his contract which expires next season in 2021.

So, Barcelona will likely to sell him this summer transfer window itself so that they do not lose money but not without the player’s will. So, as MD points out Barça would consider a transfer fee of about 10 million euros for his transfer to Sevilla a good deal. This would approximately be the amount that would be between salary and the previous renewal.

If the Croatian, ends up going to Seville, then that would be a relief for the Barcelona club. Also, the club now has a wide range of young midfielders like Riqui Puig, Monchu, Alena who can step up for Barcelona and as Panic will also land at Camp Nou, the Catalans have to better offload some of their older members to balance things up for the coming season.
