AMD has stated that their next-generation AMD Ryzen 8000 Desktop CPUs with Zen 5 core architecture would be available in 2024. AMD announced during its most recent Meet The Experts webinar that their AMD Ryzen 8000 Desktop CPUs will be available in 2024. This is the first time AMD has confirmed the CPU and GPU architecture for its Ryzen 8000 Desktop CPUs, codenamed Granite Rapids and expected to preserve compatibility with the AM5 platform.

The AMD Ryzen 8000 Desktop CPUs will include the brand new Zen 5 core architecture and the latest RDNA 3.5 graphics architecture for integrated GPU, according to the latest roadmap. This is the same RDNA GPU that will power the Strix Point APU, the Phoenix APU’s successor.

AMD also discusses the lifespan of its AM5 platform, claiming that it will scale until 2026 which will be good for when the AMD Ryzen 8000 Desktop CPUs are launched.

The AM4 platform received four families as well, but AMD does state that the AM5 platform will receive a new CPU core and graphics upgrade on an annual basis, so you’ll have something new to try out each year. According to the business, it would also provide the best performance per watt in all areas.

The Zen 5 CPUs will be available in three flavours (Zen 5 / Zen 5 V-Cache / Zen 5C), and the chip is designed from the ground up with a completely new microarchitecture that focuses on delivering enhanced performance and efficiency, a re-pipelined front-end, and wide issue, as well as Integrated AI and machine learning optimisation.
