Taj Reign of Revenge Part 2 OTT Release Date, Plot, Cast, and Expectation 

Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s highly anticipated historical period drama series has taken a  final turn in between father and son in Taj – Reign of Revenge Part 2. Prince Salim has determined to challenge his father for his rightful place as heir to the Mughal empire. The main aim of the Prince is to take revenge for the loss of his lady love, Anarkali (Aditi Rao Hydari). 

This time Salim is determined not to back down as Akbar is growing older, and unable to dominate his son anymore. Prince Daniyal (Shubham Kumar Mehra) and Prince Salim are still at each other’s throats, even as the rest of the royal advisors rile up the rivals with all kinds of tales. The trailer also shows Salim’s difficult relationship with his teenage sons, who don’t consider him a good role model. 

Taj Reign of Revenge Part 2 – What we know so far

The incredible period drama Taj is based on the battle of succession between the three sons of Akbar namely Salim, Murad, and Daniyal. In the first season, we have seen Salim’s affair with Akbar’s courtesan Anarkali which concluded with her death. Now, in the second season that has set the plot fifteen years after the first, Salim has returned to take revenge for his lost love and conquer the Mughal throne.   

Taj: Reign of Revenge charters the journey of Salim from being the exiled enemy of the Mughal empire to seeking blood and revenge in an attempt to become the next Emperor. On this dark, dangerous, and destructive path, he has been surrounded by enemies from all sides with few allies like his new love interest – Meherunnisa   

While talking about the second season, Aashim Gulati said, “Periodic dramas are something that has always caught my eye and now being in one has been an exhilarating journey. I am glad that the audiences have loved season one of the series and all I can say is that Salim’s character arc in S2 is something to look out for. S2 is grittier, darker, bolder, and personally for me, my best yet.”  

In the second part of the season, we will focus on the father-son clash in a full-throttle battle for the throne. While backstabbing and deaths have become the main purpose as characters believe the throne cannot be won without some bloodshed. Aditi Rao Hydari comes back into Salim’s dreams as she looks for him to take the empire.

Taj Reign of Revenge Part 2: Cast 

In the second part we will see Taj: Divided By Blood, has returned along with Naseeruddin Shah as Akbar and Dharmendra in a special appearance as Salim Chisti. Rahul Bose as Mirza Hakim, Sandhya Mridul as Jodha Bai, Zarina Wahab as Queen Salima Begum, and Padma Damodharan as Queen Ruqaiya Begum also return. Mehr un Nisa (Sauraseni Mitra) and Ali Quli (Rouhallah Quazim) were introduced as new characters in the new season. 

Co-produced by Abhimanyu Singh and Roopali Singh, Taj – Reign of Revenge is directed by Vibhu Puri. Season one was directed by Ron Scalpello.  The first part was released earlier this month.

Taj: Reign of Revenge’s second part is now streaming on Zee5 on and from June 2, 2023, with new episodes dropping every Friday.
