Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed that Real Madrid will be signing Fran Garcia from Rayo Vallecano next season. An agreement has been in place for months, and has now been made public by the manager.
Garcia was part of the Castilla academy, but left to get more playing time. He has been rated as one of the most exciting young full-backs in Europe, and will now play for Los Blancos next season.
Fran Garcia will play for Real Madrid next season – Carlo Ancelotti
“He is a very energetic left-back. He is quick with the ball and attacks well. He is a good profile for us and he’ll join us next season,” Ancelotti said when asked about the youngster joining the club in the summer.
The 23-year-old could become a starter under Ancelotti next season, with Ferland Mendy’s future up in the air. The youngster has been ever-present on the pitch and has only missed eleven minutes of La Liga football in 22/23, making him the player with the most on-field minutes.
This season, Eduardo Camavinga has been played at left-back due to the constant injuries to Mendy, and the lack of a suitable option. It will no longer be the case next season, with Fran Garcia expected to have an important role as part of the backline.
