Manchester City have won the 22/23 Premier League title, completing a hat-trick of title wins after Arsenal’s 1-0 loss to Nottingham Forest. The Sky Blues have surpassed their closest competitors mathematically and have automatically sealed the first spot in the table.
Only a few months ago, the points difference between the two was eight. However, a flawless run from Pep Guardiola’s men, alongside an Arsenal collapse during their games in April.
Manchester City seal 22/23 Premier League title
The presence of Erling Haaland has been one of the biggest reasons behind their success, with the Norwegian breaking scoring records every single week. In his debut season in the Premier League, the striker has surpassed Alan Shearer and Andy Cole’s record of scoring 34 goals in one campaign.
The Sky Blues have won one out of the three trophies that they can still win this season. They are also set to play the finals of the FA Cup against Manchester United and the Champions League against Inter Milan.
And in both ties, they are heading in as the favourites and have a chance to complete a historic treble. The only other time an English team achieved this feat was in 1998/99 when their rivals, Manchester United, did so. As a result, Pep Guardiola could finally achieve the objective that has eluded him all these years.
Guardiola’s men are set to face Chelsea in their next game, and could receive a guard of honour from the London club.
