The finals of the 22/23 Europa League have been confirmed, with Sevilla set to take on Roma for the title. Jose Mourinho has now made it to consecutive European finals with the Giallorossi, while the record Europa League winners have a chance to win the trophy another time, to extend their tally to seven.

Both teams are close to missing out on the Champions League through their domestic leagues. And winning the Europa League would allow them to appear in the top tier of Europe despite being unable to finish in the top four.

Sevilla to take on Roma in the finals of the 22/23 Europa League

Edoardo Bove’s goal in the first leg was the difference maker in Roma’s semi-final against Bayer Leverkusen. The second leg was a very cagey affair, with neither team doing enough to really test the other keeper.

Leverkusen, trailing, were forced to be on the front foot, but they could not beat Rui Patricio between the sticks. Roma tried to play on the counter attack, but could not muster up many productive efforts either.

Juventus, on the other hand, had their hearts broken in extra time when Erik Lamela managed to score with a header. The former Tottenham player had assisted Suso’s screamer earlier in the night, and helped his side advance to the finals by getting on the scoresheet himself.
