N’Golo Kante has opened up about his future, and the chances of him staying at Chelsea beyond this summer. The midfielder’s contract expires in two months, and he is yet to agree to a new one with the board.
Progress has been made in negotiations, however, and he looks much more likely to stay now, than he did a few months ago. The arrival of Mauricio Pochettino could play a big role in Kante deciding to continue with Chelsea for the coming years.
N’Golo Kante speaks on Chelsea future
“For sure. It’s an exciting project for the club.
“Unfortunately this season hasn’t been to Chelsea’s standards. But everyone wants to go in this way, the way of success and winning titles,” N’Golo Kante told Football Daily.
“I hope this club will again fight in this direction. Let’s see where I will be but I hope that this is a change for the club, that is most important.”
The France international has missed most of the season due to a hamstring injury he sustained at the start. Multiple setbacks have hindered his progress, but he is now back to being a regular in the starting line-up.
“At the moment I feel good, hopefully it’ll carry on like this. For the last weeks I’ve been playing I’ve felt very good.
“Hopefully I can carry on for the rest of the season and hopefully the most difficult part is behind me, and I’m able to forget it – enjoying football again and wins again. Hopefully more success [too],” he added about his current physical condition.
“It was the purpose of the surgery, to come back strong.”
