Barcelona have been linked with all kinds of news, but the fact that they might leave Spanish and European competition altogether is something crazy. However, that is exactly what the club is looking into on the back of the Enriquez Negreira corruption case.

Although the club is expected to play in the Champions League next season, with no decisive evidence being found linking their connection with match results. However, there is a chance that they could be suspended as UEFA have also launched their own investigation into the matter.

According to Tv3 show ‘Onze’, the club has carried out research on whether it could move to another league if UEFA sanctions them. One of the options being considered is playing friendlies, or as a guest club.

But the most startling of them is the option of moving to the Asian leagues in case they are sanctioned by UEFA. Even though it could be profitable, whether their elite players will continue outside of the Champions League could pose some interesting problems to the board.

Barcelona president Joan Laporta and UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin met a few days ago to discuss the Negreira case. And as such, no sanctions have been drawn up by the governing body yet. But in case something happens, we could see some drastic measures being taken by the Catalonian side, such as the revival of the European Super League with greater force.
