Ivan Toney has been in the form of his life this season, and with his goal against Nottingham Forest, he has now scored 20 goals in 22/23. The last Brentford player to score 20+ goals in a season was Dave McCulloch 85 years ago.
The forward is currently the third highest scorer in the Premier League, behind Harry Kane and Erling Haaland. And it really does to show how impressive he has been, given that it isn’t for a traditional top six side like City or Spurs.
Ivan Toney breaks Brentford scoring record
In three seasons with the Bees, Toney has provided 82 goal involvements in 110 games which is absolutely remarkable. He has scored six goals from the penalty spot, and has missed only two over the course of his entire career.
Brentford are pushing for a top half finish this season, and Toney is the man leading the charge for them with his eye-catching goal tally.
The big clubs in the Premier League will no doubt be paying close attention to whether they can sign him in the summer. The likes of Manchester United and Chelsea are on the lookout for a new striker. And Ivan Toney could be a proven option in the English top flight for them, while also coming cheaper than the likes of Kane or Victor Osimhen of Napoli.
