Arsenal have been dealt a massive blow in the title race, with a 3-3 draw against Southampton at home. The two dropped points sees them only five points ahead of Manchester City, who have two games in hand.
Southampton took the lead only 27 seconds into the game, with Aaron Ramsdale making a costly error. Carlos Alcaraz was able to pounce on a poorly picked pass, and beat the keeper from long range. He would then assist former Arsenal player Theo Walcott as he scored with a neat finish at his former home.

Gabriel Martinelli was able to make it 2-1 in the first half with a strike from a volley, before Arsenal were behind again. Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka produced to extremely late goals to make it 3-3 at the 88th and 90th minute to somehow equalise.
Leandro Trossard and Reiss Nelson came extremely close in stoppage time with the former hitting the crossbar from long range. However, they were unable to find the winning goal and had to settle for a point.
Arsenal have no one but themselves to blame for the defeat, with some costly individual mistakes allowing them to concede. They couldn’t get things going until very late either, and that gave them much less time to get another goal.
The mentality that the players are showing is now under question, especially with City so close behind. From here on, Mikel Arteta will have to get his side to win almost every single game in order to win the title, unless Manchester City somehow slip up.
