At its WWDC 2023 event, Apple is anticipated to unveil the larger 15.5-inch MacBook Air. Even though iOS 17, watchOS 10, macOS 10, and other software updates will be the main focus of the event, the company will also choose to introduce new hardware.

As previously reported, the company is developing a new MacBook Air model with a larger display. According to recent reports, Apple’s larger 15.5-inch MacBook Air will use the M2 chip instead of the M2 Pro chip for the time being.

The 15.5-inch MacBook Air will have the same general appearance in terms of design as the MacBook Air that Apple redesigned last year in June by reducing the bezels and adding a notch to the display. The display size also increased from 13.3 inches to 13.6 inches.

The company is currently looking to add a new model with a larger 15.5-inch display to the lineup. As a result, the company will be able to streamline its product line for the MacBook Pro M2 Pro and M2 Max models.

It was first claimed that the 15.5-inch MacBook Air would include both an M2 and an M2 Pro chip.

Although specifics were lacking, renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo is now claiming that the business will switch from the M2 Pro chip to the M2 chip. This indicates that the upcoming MacBook Air will have nearly identical performance capabilities to the 13.6-inch model.

In addition, the 15.5-inch MacBook Air’s M2 chip will have two configurations, just like the 13.6-inch model. If the rumours are true, the M2 chip will have an 8- and 10-core GPU. Be aware that the M2 chip, which brought improved computational and graphics capabilities, was a worthy upgrade over the original M1 chip. Apple might decide to include the M2 Pro chip in upcoming iterations of the gadget.

The M3 chip from Apple is currently in development and will go into mass production this year. This suggests that the 13.6- and 15.5-inch MacBook Air models may feature the first M3 chip.
