Jordan Henderson is having a time of his lifetime at Liverpool recently. In the previous 2018-19 season, Henderson lifted the Champions League trophy for Liverpool.

One year down the line, the England international has once again lifted another trophy for Liverpool. This time it is the Premier League trophy, which has finally ended Liverpool’s long wait of 30 years for the top-flight title.

Liverpool’s captain Jordan Henderson has a massive role in this win. He has been superb in the middle of the park, controlling the tempo of the game and occasionally joining the attacks and scoring goals.

Congratulations, skipper 😍

Jordan Henderson has now been voted as the Football Writers’ Association’s (FWA) Footballer of the Year. The prestigious annual prize is decided by the votes of professional football writers and broadcasters across the country.

Henderson received more than a quarter of the votes, holding off competition from Kevin De Bruyne and Marcus Rashford, as well as teammates Virgil van Dijk and Sadio Mane. Trent Alexander-Arnold and Alisson Becker also received votes as the Premier League winners dominated the poll.

"But as grateful as I am I don’t feel like I can accept this on my own. I don’t feel like anything I’ve achieved this season or in fact during my whole career has been done on my own.

"I hope those who voted for me did so partly to recognise the entire team’s contribution." ✨🔴

Henderson said after winning the award: “But as grateful as I am I don’t feel like I can accept this on my own. I don’t feel like anything I’ve achieved this season or in fact during my whole career has been done on my own.

“I hope those who voted for me did so partly to recognise the entire team’s contribution.”

The England international missed just four league matches before injury brought a premature end to his campaign earlier this month. He has also scored four goals during this campaign.

Off the field, the 30-year-old has been widely appreciated for his role during the COVID-19 pandemic. He played an integral part in the #PlayersTogether initiative supporting NHS frontline workers.

Jordan Henderson deservedly won the award this year for his contributions on and off the pitch!
