Toni Kroos has decided to continue with Real Madrid for one more season, and will be renewing his contract until 2024. The midfielder was offered a new contract last year itself, but turned it down initially since he wanted to ensure that he would be fit to play.
And now, the decision has been made and he will stay for at least one more season. An agreement is in place between him and the club, with an official announcement expected once the paperwork has been signed.
Toni Kroos to stay at Real Madrid until 2024
In spite of being 33 years old, the former Germany international has been one of the finest performers for the club. He has regularly featured in the starting eleven, and has helped the club reach the finals of the Copa del Rey.
The Spanish Cup, surprisingly, is the only trophy that the midfield maestro hasn’t won during his nine years at the club. But he has the chance to finally add that to his trophy cabinet when Madrid face Osasuna in the finals this season.
First team manager Carlo Ancelotti is very fond of the veteran, and trusts him greatly. He had a big role in Toni Kroos renewing his contract, since the player adds to the team not only with his skills, but also with his intelligence and leadership qualities.
Real Madrid are also expected to renew Luka Modric’s contract for one more season. But, they haven’t been able to reach an agreement with the Croatian as of yet.
