The Premier League have officially announced their decision to ban betting sponsors from appearing on the front of club t-shirts. An official statement declared that the switch would be put into place from the end of the 2025/26 season.

However, it did not reveal much on sleeve sponsors, and whether or not betting partners could be displayed there or not. But considering that the UK is trying to curb down on betting ads, sleeve sponsors might not be allowed either.

Premier League ban gambling sponsors on shirts

“The announcement follows an extensive consultation involving the League, its clubs and the Department for Culture, Media and Sport as part of the Government’s ongoing review of current gambling legislation,” the statement read.

“The Premier League is also working with other sports on the development of a new code for responsible gambling sponsorship.

“To assist clubs with their transition away from shirt-front gambling sponsorship, the collective agreement will begin at the end of the 2025/26 season.”

The likes of Bournemouth, Brentford, Everton, Fulham, Newcastle United, Southampton and West Ham United will all have to look for new sponsors soon since they currently have betting sites on the front.

The decision is the first of its kind in Europe, and it remains to be seen whether other leagues will follow suit.
