Sadio Mane has been suspended for their upcoming game against Hoffenheim for punching Leroy Sane after their Champions League defeat against Manchester City. The locker room incident was the fallout of them having a brief row on the pitch.
An official statement has confirmed that the Senegalese will miss their upcoming game. But no word has been given on whether he will be available after that. Moreover, he will also have to pay a fine for his ‘misconduct’.
Sadio Mane handed suspension and fine for punching Leroy Sane
“Sadio Mane, 31, will not be included in the FC Bayern squad for this Saturday’s home match against 1899 Hoffenheim. This is due to his misconduct after Bayern’s Champions League match at Manchester City. Mane will also be given a fine,” the official statement read.
Bayern held an emergency meeting and put the matter to rest in a dignified manner. Mane was spotted at training, and he apologised to the rest of the squad alongside the German.
This could have been the start of further turmoil for the Bavarians after the arrival of Thomas Tuchel. However, it seems like it won’t cause further concerns and that the two players simply let the frustration get the better of them.
Bayern still have the Bundesliga title to play for, and could still turn things around when they host Manchester City next week.
