Carlo Ancelotti has commented on the rumours linking him to the Brazil national team job. The Real Madrid manager has welcomed speculation on the matter, but has maintained that he is focused on the ongoing season with Real Madrid. However, he didn’t rule out the possibility of managing the Selecao down the line.

The president of the CBF, Ednaldo Rodrigues has also hinted that Ancelotti would be a great option to take over the first team. But, he denied any official contact with the veteran manager about the job.

“The reality is that the Brazilian national team wants me; I love that, it’s exciting,” Ancelotti told a news conference before Madrid’s game against Real Valladolid.

“From there, you have to respect the contract you have, which is a contract that I want to fulfil.”

“Everything is quite clear, I’ll stay here as long as Madrid allow me to stay here,” he added.

“I feel a lot of affection from the president [Florentino Perez], the fans, the players, the atmosphere is very calm around me … we now have two and a half months to try to win two trophies.”

In the past, Carlo Ancelotti mentioned that he would be retiring if he were to leave Real Madrid. But that stance has seemingly changed after the Brazil rumours. He has denied that stance on the matter now, and could be relieved of his duties at the end of the season if they don’t win any trophies.

Ancelotti has a contract with Real Madrid until 2024, but could take over as the new Brazil head coach if he leaves the club.
