Romeo Lavia has emerged as one of the top young midfielders in the Premier League recently. The player was previously a part of the Manchester City academy, but was sold to the Saints for €12 million this past summer.
Over the course of the season, he has established himself as one of the regulars in the team, in spite of them being threatened by relegation. He has played 19 games in the Premier League and has scored one goal. But, his work rate has been quite incredible and he is attracting interest from the top clubs in the world for a move in the summer.
Romeo Lavia attracting interest from big clubs in the summer
As revealed by Fabrizio Romano, Joe Shields was the man responsible for bringing Lavia to Southampton. He formerly worked for City, before moving to St Mary’s Park, and is now with Chelsea. As a result, the Blues have been linked with his signature and he could be a possible replacement for N’Golo Kante.
Manchester City have a buyback clause inserted in his contract valued at £40 million. But, it will become valid only from 2024 and not this summer.
Moreover, Arsenal are also keeping tabs on Romeo Lavia since they want a new defensive midfielder. Moises Caicedo also remains one of the options, but nothing advanced has been reached with any player or club as of yet.
