In the first quarter of 2024, Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) is expected to introduce the Dzire compact sedan and the Swift compact hatchback. They have a strong domestic following and easily dominate their respective market niches. These vehicles’ popularity would probably increase if they had a hybrid version.
According to rumours, the next-generation Maruti Swift will go on sale in the first half of 2024 with a heavily localised 1.2-liter powerful hybrid engine. Alongside the K12C engine, a new 1.2-liter, three-cylinder hybrid petrol engine with the codename Z12E will be offered, but it will only be available on higher trim levels.
The new engine will use the capable hybrid technology that was developed locally and is already found in the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder.
The Grand Vitara and Hyryder are two of India’s few powerful hybrid vehicles, with a 27.97 kilometre per litre fuel economy rating. Given their smaller size and lighter weight when compared to this figure, it is safe to assume that the Swift and Dzire would deliver 35 to 40 km/l. Because hybrid vehicles receive “super points,” Maruti Suzuki will also be able to raise its CAFE (Corporate Average Fuel Economy) rating as a result of its high fuel efficiency.
The fact that these cars won’t see a significant price increase when compared to existing trims would be the cherry on top if excellent mileage wasn’t already enough. This is accomplished through the purchase of Toyota’s localised hybrid technology and the substantial sales of both of these vehicles. As a result, we can anticipate that the Maruti Suzuki will start at 7.5 lakh INR.
Due to their affordability, functionality, and fuel efficiency, the Dzire and Swift are already well-liked vehicles. Additionally, we can anticipate a significant number of new features being added to the cars with these recent launches to give them a more upscale feel. To set it apart from non-hybrid versions, the exterior may feature a few minor changes and sporty accents.
