La Liga North America tour: USA and Mexico pre-season plans confirmed for August 2023

Plans for a La Liga North America tour in the summer have been confirmed by the league following an official statement. Teams from Spain will be competing in the USA and Mexico as part of their pre-season plan to grow viewership in the continent.

Dates and fixtures for the summer will be announced later, but the matches are expected to be played in the first week of August. Real Madrid and Barcelona, two of the biggest attractions of Spanish football, will not be a part of the tour.

La Liga North America tour confirmed in the first week of August

Here is the official statement released regarding the La Liga North America tour in the summer:

“The summer tour is part of La Liga and its clubs’ strategy to grow the Spanish Professional League’s footprint in the United States and Mexico.

“The tour will make its first stop in 2023 in the United States and Mexico. It will continue the strategy to develop and grow the league, its clubs, and competitions in North American markets.

“The United States and Mexico represent an important opportunity for La Liga and its clubs in brand and business development, especially in the run-up to the FIFA World Cup in 2016.”

Manchester United will also be embarking on a pre-season tour in North America, having confirmed their plans to do so for the first time since 2018.
